Rani T. Jarkas
Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Jarkas founded Global Crown Capital, LLC ("GCC") in late 2001. In the eleven years prior to founding GCC, Mr. Jarkas held senior level wealth management positions at some of the world's leading investment firms including JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch and CIBC Oppenheimer. During his tenure at CIBC, he was the Executive Director of Investments in the Private Wealth Management Division, a member of the exclusive Chairman's Council and consistently ranked in the top 25 Financial Advisors. Likewise, at Merrill Lynch, he was repeatedly ranked as one of the top Senior Financial Consultants for the firm on the West Coast. Mr. Jarkas' clients are sophisticated investors and include corporations (public and private), endowments, foundations and high net worth individuals from around the globe.
Mr. Jarkas is a certified Financial Manager and holds BAs in Finance and Accounting from Georgia State University. Mr. Jarkas was also the number one squash player and among the top ten players in the U.S. for six consecutive years.
Henry Wolfgang Carter, Esq
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Henry Wolfgang Carter has been the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer since January 2006. He was recently selected as the "2007 Compliance Leader of the Year" by Institutional Investor for his efforts and leadership in the field of compliance in the U.S. and U.K. He is currently a member of the California State Senate Advisory Commission on Cost Control in State Government and a member or previous member of several California State commissions. Prior to joining GCC, Mr. Carter was Vice-President and Chief Compliance Officer for E*TRADE Securities, Inc. and then Assistant General Counsel and Vice-President for E*TRADE Group, Inc. He was responsible for compliance-related matters/issues involving corporate and securities laws and practices from both a domestic and international perspective.
Mr. Carter is a pioneer in the field of electronic compliance. He was a driving force in California for legislation signed by Governor Davis in 1999, which permits the use of electronic signatures to establish customer account agreements (SB 1124). He is an expert on Internet strategies and frequently advises the Internet sector on issues of current and future opportunities. Mr. Carter received a BA (cum laude) from Pepperdine University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Bar in New York, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court and is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Association, the New York State Bar Association, Washington, D.C. Bar Association and the American Bar Association (Business Law Section). He is the author of several legal publications regarding compliance and electronic communications.
Kimberly A. Nearing
Managing Director, Global Crown Nanotechnology Group
Ms. Nearing joined GCC in May 2003 and is currently the head of the Global Crown Nanotechnology Group. She has over a decade of experience and a war chest of relationships in the life sciences and the venture capital industries. She started her career at Amgen as a Product Manager on two product candidate launch teams and then as a Business Development Manager. Following Amgen, She was the V.P. of Corporate Development at an internet healthcare company, where she developed key strategic business partnerships and raised financing for the company from blue chip investors. Ms. Nearing was also a Business Development Executive with IBM's Life Science group and an independent consultant guiding many private biotechnology companies through fundraising and commercialization. She holds a BA degree with distinction in Economics and English from the University of Michigan and an MS from Harvard University. Ms. Nearing is a participating member of the Foresight Nanotechnology Institute.
Charles M. Kanavel
Director, Compliance and Technology
Mr. Kanavel has been the Director of Compliance and Technology since June 2006. Mr. Kanavel is internationally recognized for designing and developing cutting edge software solutions for the securities industry. He was recently selected as the "2007 Compliance Leader of the Year" by Institutional Investor for his efforts and leadership in the field of compliance in the U.S. and U.K. Mr. Kanavel was also selected by Institutional Investor as one of the Top 20 Rising Stars in Compliance for 2006. While working as the Director of Technology for FIRE Solutions, he designed and developed several web based compliance, exam preparation, auditing and learning management systems. His PowerComply system won the 2006 FIRE Solutions Compliance Reporter Vendor of the Year award. While a compliance associate at E*TRADE Securities, he assisted Mr. Henry Carter in lobbying and advising the legislature and Governor Gray Davis in approving legislation for California's Digital Signatures Act (SB 1124). The act allows financial services firms to open and establish customer accounts using an electronic signature.
Mr. Kanavel was also a nationally ranked Fencer and four-time Pacific Coast Champion.
David Patterson
Chief Technical Strategist, Global Crown Technical Analytics, LLC
Mr. Patterson has been the head of GCC's Technical Analytics group since 2004. Mr. Patterson is recognized internationally for having developed highly customized technical trading strategies and programs, which have been successfully implemented in a variety of financial markets (e.g., commodity and equity markets). The world's largest petrochemical companies, including Shell, BP, ChevronTexaco and ConocoPhillips are among his consulting service clients, a practice he has had since 1978. Mr. Patterson developed a sophisticated, proprietary software package, and PICS to support his trading advisory services to Global Crown Capital. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Houston.
